Brief History
Hawthorne Hills Homeowners Association held its first meeting July 28, 2007. One of the few area's of Olympia Fields not represented by a Homeowners Association at the time, several residents reached out to other residents of the area and with the assistance of then village President Linzey D. Jones, the Association was formed. "Hawthorne Hills" was named by the area's original developer, Arthur T. McIntosh, for the many Hawthorne trees that once grew in the area and the slight hills in the landscape. In the spring Hawthorne trees bloom with numerous white flowers and can be seen along Lincoln Highway at Wingate Road and along Governors Highway at Exmoor Road. A member of the rose family, the tree is susceptible to many of the same disease that effect the common rose bush and unfortunately many have died off since the area was developed. Several residents though are fortunate to still have Hawthorne trees growing on their property.
Hawthorne Hills Homeowners Association's area parallels both Lincoln Highway and Governors Highway. Located along Lincoln Highway between Governors Highway and Evergreen Road, this subdivision includes Roslyn Road, Wingate Road, Pine Avenue and Elliot Court. Located along Governors Highway just north of Walgreens and GFS are two more subdivisions of Hawthorne Hills. One extending west from Governors Highway to Crawford Avenue which includes Exmoor Road, Cumnock Road and Byron Court, and the other extending east from Governors Highway to includes Highview Avenue and Woodstock Road. All three subdivisions were part of Arthur T. McIntosh developer plans for the "Hawthorne Hills" section of Olympia Fields.
We invite residents of the area to come and join us at our next meeting.
